Our Vision

Our vision is to become the most sustainable energy company in the country.

Our Mission

We are dedicated to delivering safe, reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy; protecting the environment; serving our customers and communities; empowering our people; and creating value for our shareholders.

Wind and Solar

Delivering Reliable, Affordable, Clean Energy

We are committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions – both carbon dioxide and methane – for all of our electric and natural gas operations by 2050. We will achieve this ambitious goal while continuing to deliver reliable, affordable, clean energy. Learn more about our Net Zero goal. Some of the ways we're showing our commitment to clean energy include:

Offshore Wind
We are focused on delivering what our customers want — energy that is reliable and sustainable. Offshore wind generation is a critical resource for meeting our customers’ expectations around reducing carbon emissions. We have the largest offshore wind project under development in the United States. Once complete in 2026, around 180 wind turbines off the coast of Virginia will power up to 660,000 Dominion Energy Virginia customers’ homes.

Solar Generation
Dominion Energy is placing a priority on development of renewable energy. In just one year, we've quadrupled the amount of solar and wind generation in our 15-year plan. Our solar fleet, already the 3rd largest among US utility holding companies, will grow from a current output of 396 megawatts to approximately 16,000 megawatts by 2035. See our solar facilities.

Nuclear Energy
Our nuclear power program produces a safe, zero-emissions, highly reliable form of renewable energy for our customers—in fact, more than 90% of our total carbon-free electricity output comes from our nuclear power stations. Explore our nuclear energy program.

Electric Vehicles
As plug-in electric vehicles (EVs) gain popularity, we're committed to studying and responding to customer interest in this zero-emission technology. Use our EV Toolkit to calculate savings, compare models, find incentives and more.

Renewable Natural Gas
Renewable energy comes from many sources, like the sun, the wind and hydroelectric dams. But did you know it also comes from farms, food and other organic waste? That’s right! We’re turning farm, food and other waste into clean energy for our customers. It’s called renewable natural gas, and it’s making the world a better place by reducing emissions, producing clean energy and providing new income for family farmers. Learn more.

Hydrogen
We're exploring the world’s most abundant element for clean, renewable energy. Hydrogen is an emerging clean energy source that could reduce the environmental impact of nearly every part of our daily lives. It can generate electricity, heat homes and buildings, power manufacturing and fuel transportation – all with few or zero emissions. Learn more about all the ways hydrogen can help Dominion Energy achieve net zero emissions, while also helping reduce emissions from other industries like transportation and manufacturing.

Protecting the Environment

We're committed to preserving and protecting our planet's natural resources through the passionate efforts of our people, our support for environmental programs, and our investments in new and emerging energy technologies. Some examples include:

The Commitment of Our People
We want to ensure that future generations will be able to enjoy all that nature has to offer. Here's an example of one employee whose job it is to help ensure that happens. We also encourage employee volunteerism in support of wildlife protection programs.

Protecting Wildlife Habitats
From supporting sea turtle rescue efforts, to helping fund avian conservation, to creating and fostering pollinator habitats, our company and our employees are committed to protecting wildlife and their habitats across our company’s footprint.

Water Conservation
We use water to make energy. Whenever we can, we return the water to its original source. But because we can't always do that, we're seeking opportunities to use less water and to reuse water. View our clean water commitment.

Workplace Sustainability
We apply the principles of sustainability across the board — including in our places of work. This ensures our employees experience and cultivate a sustainable mindset throughout their workday — even when doing something as simple as pouring a cup of coffee. Serving Our Customers and Communities

It's our job to make sure power and gas delivery to our customers remains reliable regardless of weather, security threats, or accidents. But we also support the communities our customers live in by volunteering and making financial contributions to community causes. Some of the ways we’re showing our commitment to our customers and communities include:

Energy Assistance

For customers who may be facing financial hardship or who simply want to manage their energy usage more effectively, we are here to help. We can connect customers to bill payment assistance programs, such as EnergyShare®. We provide customers with energy efficiency tools and tips. We also help them understand the various billing options available to them. Our compassionate employees are committed to delivering the support our customers need, every day.

Employees in Action

Year round, employees roll up their sleeves to volunteer their time and skills to support projects such as weatherizing homes, building nature trails in parks, cleaning up waterways, planting trees, constructing access ramps for mobility challenged community members, delivering meals to neighbors in need, and repairing school facilities. Read about our Employees in Action.

Our HBCU Promise

In 2020, Dominion Energy committed $25 million to be shared by 11 historically black colleges and universities in Virginia, Ohio, North Carolina and South Carolina. The six-year "HBCU PromiseSM" program will support endowments, capital projects, operating expenses and educational programs in clean energy. As part of that program, Dominion Energy recently hosted a forum with HBCU leaders to discuss equity in higher education. We also established the Educational Equity Scholarship Program, a six-year, $10 million initiative to provide assistance with higher education expenses to African American and other minority students in our service area.

Project Plant It!®

Each spring since 2007, we have given thousands of students in our communities a free tree seedling to plant for Arbor Day. For the 2020-2021 academic year, Project Plant It! added a bee pollinator program, and participants receive free wildflower seed packets to attract bees and other pollinators. Project Plant It! supports educators with STEM-based lesson plans, games, activities and other resources to teach students about the important role of trees and pollinators to our ecosystem.
