Our Net Zero Commitment

We’ve cut carbon emissions from our electric generation business by approximately 43% (since 2005) and methane emissions from our natural gas business by 32% (since 2010) — and we're just getting started. By growing wind, solar, and renewable natural gas and pursuing innovative technologies, we expect to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. We’ve also committed to reducing the emissions of our suppliers and customers — so we can all move forward together.

Achieving net zero emissions not only requires rapid expansion of today’s technology, but also long-term investments in the new and emerging technologies of tomorrow. We’re exploring carbon capture, battery storage, advanced nuclear and hydrogen to harness the power of innovation and accelerate future progress.

Achieving net zero by 2050 will require immediate action and investments in emerging technologies with long-term benefit. So we are:

  • Investing in battery storage technology to make renewables more reliable.
  • Developing advanced zero-carbon nuclear technology to power major cities.
  • Promoting public policies to support investment in new and emerging technologies.
  • Exploring Carbon Capture Initiatives
